I am sorry that you didn’t get it maybe because your from a place where you don’t see beggars on railway platforms
. In India it is a common thing though.
I will try to spell out the joke for you but I am sure the fun will be lost by then.
The beggars usually have their platform selected. Each beggar is noticed only a particular platform. In India platforms are referred to in a similar way as train tracks in the US. In the US the tracks are numbered and a train is said to arrive on a particular track. In India the platforms are numbered and train is said to arrive on a particulaar platform even though technically they are on the track.
Software engineers work on different platforms like Java/C++/Windows/Unix etc.
When each one of them meets another from their own fraternity they ask the same question…. which platform?
I hope I haven’t spoiled the joke for anyone else.
