Political party By IITians - Bharat Punarnirman Dal (BPD)

Bharat Punarnirman Dal is a political party started by a bunch of IITians. Now they are planning to fight the upcoming Uttaranchal, UP and Punjab elections.

Young men like Ravi Kishore and Ajit Shukla - who both studied aerospace engineering at IIT Mumbai - are now hoping to engineer a social change through their party, the Bharat Punarnirman Dal (BPD).

Mainstream politics, dominated by money and muscle power can be a scary place to be for the educated middle class, but these young IITians are changing all that.

Says BPD spokesperson , Ravi Kishore, “The time has come when we stopped talking and instead start acting. We are creating a platform for people who want to make a change now and we have come here to deliver that change.”

These young men don’t have a fixed ideology, money or cadre to call their own.

They say all they have is integrity and big plans for the country - plans to hire people who will be solution providers, make sure the administration is clean and most importantly, retire politicians at the age of 60.

Says BPD President, Ajit Shukla, “It’s not about the money. Everyone has to begin somewhere. People will ultimately follow you if you have the conviction.”

And it’s on this belief that they are fighting the upcoming Uttaranchal, UP and Punjab elections.

I always wanted that a new party should be formed by intellectuals to take on the big political parties of today. The existing parties have very little good to offer to the nation and whatever they do have to offer comes only after their own benefit is taken care of. Politics first and nation later.

I hope BPD might be able to make a difference. If they are successful in only a couple of states then it might encourage the educated sensible youth to take up politics. If they start the process right and guard their integrity well and still achieve success it will be beginning of a new era in Indian politics.

Their attitude seems to be that of a corporation and they want to run their party as that. It is good that they want to retire politicians after 60. I would think that it would be a retirement only from active politics but they could still be part of the think tanks.

Now only time will tell if the IITians can make good politicians or not. I think it might be interesting to keep an eye on them. If they do what they say they will do I think we all should support them for that.

I don’t agree that a bunch of 20 somethings, iitians or not, can be really termed as intellectuals. All other outfits launched by ex-iitians earlier have made absolutely no impact on the polls, despite hogging media limelight.

  4. Polite Indian - January 17, 2007

    Anoop saha,

You are right. The earlier outfits failed to make any impact. This one may have the same fate but I think they need support. They now need to come out with their ideas and let it before us. They can be given the benefit of doubt about being sincere, committed and honest.
If they make the right noises I think I would support them.

Pranav: Give them your support and spread the word and let us see how all this pans out.

I need help to reach Bharat Punarnirman Dal
    BPD President, Shri Ajit Shukla.

    I need his e-mail address.

IITians need new revolutionary ideas to break the barrier to the educated Indian mind created in 1835 by understnding why and how.

The minds not barriered wrested independence for us and the barriered minds in leaders broke India before the last Brit left our shores.

This Dhaarmic history of the Swadeshi and a Badeshi mind is the story of Mahatma Gandhi for our understanding to break to smithreens our Badeshi mind and before that replace it with a Swadeshi mind.

I shall be grateful for your help in reaching Shukla ji

    All,

It is heartening to see so much positive response for this initiative.
Unfortunately I have no contact info for BPD neither email nor phone. Maybe someone living in New Delhi can provide that information.
Bhaskar, you are in Noida. Maybe you can try getting some information and share with all of us.

On my own I will try to get the contact info.

It would have been good if BPD would have launched a website along with this press conference. I don’t know if this is their lack of preparation or ignorance of the power of the web. I guess they have a lot of work to do and they should use all the help they can.

We all understand that the Present order of things is based on Manifest injustice ,therefore it must change. But the Problem is that we only “Think”.We don’t have the courage to take the initiative to bring the much desired change.
Bharat Punarnirman Dal(BPD) is definately the right step towards it.

    Hi All,

You can browse http://bharatpunarnirman.org/ for organization details but please be informed that website is under construction and some features may not be available.

Moving forward, Chandan is right that first we have to make our enrty in villeges because they are the one who decide the fate of a political party.

We have to address their issues and help them out if we want to win their confidence.

Through BPD we can build single point of contact to access resources. At ground level it can work as NGO and at higher level it run as political organization.

Guys, we need your support during this journey.

I agree that this is a good initiative by these people. But last year lok paritran started with the same fanfare..and even before the elected got over they were fighting over the presidency of the party…Just like any other political party in India..and got separated on caste issues..How different are these people. I don’t intend to demoralize this outfit, but I am sure this is the most common question among most of the Indians.

  47. Sandeep Shilawat - February 5, 2007

Party by IITians. Interesting concept. Well lets see… There was time 90% of the population of IITians was leaving India for better future. I myself have studied in IIT. I can tell you one thing about them. They PARTY really hard. Was always impressed by their brain activity, hardly impressed by their morals. Important thing about being in social service is not the active brain but the sesitive heart. High standards of principals and commitmment to the cause.

Call me cynistic but how many times have we heard that some of the intellects have come togather and tried to form a political front… And how many times they have ended up in fighting between them.

Start of every political movement is usually a common cause. The movement has to come from common man.

This movement will get lot of attention because its started by brainy people of the society. Its assumed that they will be better than rest of the lot. How good this assumption is only time will tell…

I make my choices by looking at the motive not the people and I will advise the same.

For now my advise is don’t get your hopes too high !!! But I will also add… If they are really trying to do something nice… GIVE THEM A CHANCE !!!

    Hi All -

This is a great idea. I was wondering if there is a technical wing to BPD. And if there is, are they maintaining a website that talks more about BPD. Finally, if there is one, could anyone provide list that web address here.

This website could be a great way to spread the information around.

I found http://bharatpunarnirman.org/ on the google search but could not open it. Looks like this link is not working properly. BPD will need lots of funds to fight against the political devils. And I am sure some of us, who will not be able to take part in the action directly could provide a donation and be a part of this reform process.

If somebody know about the website, please contcat me @ goelvakul@yahoo.com

  71. Rasita - March 8, 2007

I think the youth are getting ready to bring in some change. But my question to all these people are : Are they ready yet? What knowledge of Constitution or structure of the government do they have?

The other outfit floated by IIT’ians Lok Paritran also became a wash out because youth should first study before they enter the foray. There is also another organisation called Bharat Uday Mission who are planning to contest elections in 2010. But my sincere suggestion to all is please join a course to learn about politics. The only college available now is the MIT School of Government , Pune (as of now) and learn theory and practical aspects of politics.

Then they will get the real picture of politics. All this while people have used experience to rely on politics which is very much required. But first if you need to become an engineer you study engineering and respectively for other disciplines. So I suggest before you decide to plunge headlong into politics prepare yourself.

    http://www.mitsog.com
We need good quality participants to enroll in the course other wise the whole purpose will be lost. Educated and sensible youth have to come forward to learn about the government before they blindly embark on the path of politics.

    Thanks.

    Dear Ajit Shukla,
    President BPD
I am very very happy with you n your vision.
Is it right to leave country in the hands of hungry robbers?
    What’ll they do?
    this is our country?

    should we only opolize them?
we are crying they(Current Leaders) are looting our country?
    But what we do?
    nothing?
    Just simple we are cowards!
We know only how to make a “Roti, Kapada aur Makan” by exploiting this country, but don’t know how to save it from “bhukhe bhediye” of our country.
Do you know why there is a lack of administration?

  95. Dr Sunil Saxena - March 12, 2007

    Proposed Election manifesto of
    Bharat Punarnirman Dal
    Making a New Republic
    Constitutional and Electoral Reforms
    1. Nation-wide, televised/ aired, debates on the feasibility of Presidential form of Government for India.
    2. Nominees for Cabinet, Ministers, and other key posts to face an Appointment Committee of Parliament, comprising thirty or forty members representing all parties; to be televised and open to public; which should go through their criminal, financial, and private lives in detail, before they are confirmed.
    3. Donations to political parties to be made tax free and via cheque.
    4. Annual audit of the financial accounts of all national and regional parties.
    5. Institution of public hearings of all the MLAs, and MPs every three to six months in the constituency to review their performance.
    6. Any pending Criminal cases of serious nature to automatically disqualify a candidate for elections.
    Judicial Reforms
    1. Speedy justice, based on clearly defined, objective laws can be delivered only if massive reforms- in the judicial appointment process, transfer of judges, autonomy, computerization, clearing of backlog through special powers- are implemented. The average person would benefit the most through these.
    Reducing the Fat
    2. The role of state is to be limited only in areas where national safety and security is unquestionable: defense and the military, the police, atomic energy and space, foreign affairs, currency etc. But in many other areas, the government has no business to be in business.
    3. Begin by doing away with at least half of the existing posts in the senior, middle, and junior levels. Get the government out of the lives of ordinary people.
    4. Bar caste based reservations with immediate effect. Assistance, based purely on economic basis, to be provided once during education and career, limited to next ten years, should come into place. This should be written into the constitution.
    5. Privatization of the rest of the activities to be taken at massive scale to reduce national waste, and curb corruption. Power, Railways, Highways, Transport, Irrigation, Agriculture, Primary Health, Education- all these need to taken away from the inefficient clutches of the government.
    6. The state must withdraw from its all- pervasive control and overwhelming role in the field of education. Instead give tax incentives for opening up educational institutions, and very soon there would be no need of reservations. Government should get out of the business of running schools, universities, and major educational institutions
    7. Similarly; by focusing mainly on issues like clean drinking water, sanitation, sewage and disaster situations; the rest of the medical care can be left for voluntary and private sectors. Instituting a subsidized medical insurance program at the national level can provide medical care to everyone.
    8. The time has come to put an end to deficit financing and insist that governments, whether state or central, balance their budget as responsibly as you and I do it for our home.
    9. Put an end to Income tax. Instead have an expenditure tax, which would encourage savings.
    Police reforms
    1. Massive reforms are needed, along with a massive dose of modernization. Suggestions of earlier commissions lie without consideration. There is an urgent need for police to be protected from political structure. At the same time brutality in police lock-ups, the third degree, the ā€˜encounters’ need to be replaced by modern interrogation techniques under camera.
    Common Civil code and Religion
    2. Tolerance is the willingness to live and let live. No one needs loudspeakers to reach his God. This applies both to ā€˜jagaran’ and ā€˜ajaan.’ Let us have laws and rules to make use of religion and caste in elections a heinous offence which will invite disqualification. State must not fund minority, or majority, religious institutions. A common civil code applicable to ALL citizens of India has to come in force in due time.
The election commission has done a commendable job in attempting to organize largely clean elections.
Now, let us fulfill our obligations by putting up candidates of elections who have integrity and courage.

    Dear Dr Sunil Saxena,

Has this election manifesto been discussed within the party and are the key members of the party aware of this? Are these just your thoughts or Is the party seriously thinking on these lines? If you don’t mind can you elaborate on your role in the party?

  98. Vinaya - March 12, 2007

Since you are the well wishers of India, it would be worthwhile if you could go through the paper published at site: vinay1340.wordpress.com on “How to transform Uttar Pradesh (UP) into Uttam Pradesh (Best State)”. Its consideration, either partly or wholly, would definitely help transforming state into developed one.Your comments are most welcome.

  99. Sandeep Shilawat - March 12, 2007

I just read this line in the “manifesto”
    >>>>>> 9. Put an end to Income tax. Instead have an expenditure tax, which would encourage savings.

Are you sure? Meaning… no really, are you really serious about what is written?

  100. Sandeep Shilawat - March 12, 2007

Is being educated is a basic requirement to become member of this party?

  101. Vinaya - March 12, 2007

It’s worthwhile, if BPD and general audiences consider this:

The faultless democratic system is a system where public doesn’t like any one ruling them. The public forms government for not to rule but to take care of state or country. So, the whole public in all is ruler but not the individuals. In past, British ruled India by appointing officers at the different levels. Those officers were basically involved in monitoring the public and ruling them. They were not for the helping or serving the public. They were treating the general public inhumanly and came up with relation called master and servant. Those officers wanted themselves to be treated as the master (malik) by the general public and were trained to look on general public as servant (gulam) with disrespect. They preferred to be called by the words like Your Excellency, Sir, Hakim, Your Majesty, Reverend, Your Honor, Me Lord, Mahamaheem, Honorable etc. The same concept still carries. Most of the ministers and bureaucrats have in mind that they are rulers and respectable. They don’t think they are public servants and they are there to serve the people. They think they are Very Important Person (VIP) and they should be respected.

In a true democratic system, there is no place for such thinking. The author read in a popular Hindi news paper that one of the chief ministers of a state was behaving like a God. He was asking few people gathered around him on some occasion to beg for whatever they need and he will fulfill their wish. Such kind of mentality is dangerous to democracy. It should be opposite. A minister should think as he/she is servant of public and rather than he/she being a VIP, the general public is VIP. If they don’t think like that, public should not allow them to reach that level. This is absolutely in hand of the public and that is what called democracy, where a state is ruled by the public. In democratic system, a government is formed by the public for the service of the public.

The public service commission (Lok Seva Ayog) is established by government to provide efficient and capable public servants (Lok Sevaks) to serve the people but most of us want to join that because of not serving the people but to get power to rule the public. Therefore there is craze to become Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, minister etc. If we really imagine we have to work as servant of public and not as VIP, only those of us can opt for this job whose real aim is to serve the public. The author is not sure how many of ministers, governors and bureaucrats (let’s call them as lok-sevaks in future references) think themselves that they are servants of public and they should use words like Your Excellency, Me Lord, Your Honor, Sir, Hakim, Your Majesty, Reverend, Mahamaheem, Honorable etc for general public rather than expecting the same for themselves.

It is a big responsibility of public to only elect those representatives who can really serve them. It is in their hand and they have power to do so by having an invaluable vote. If we appoint a domestic help or an employee in privately owned enterprise, we screen and check whether he/she is efficient from each and every angle. So, why can’t we do this in electing the representatives? If we elect right representative, he/she automatically would appoint a right officer in government organization. The author read in a news paper that IAS association doesn’t want an IAS officer to be summoned by Information Commission (Suchana Ayog), solely because it could hurt his/her ego. That is a quality of faulted democracy. This is what happening in our state. Our officers’ mentality is of get treated like a master (Malik) and not as a servant, and we need a will to change this mentality. This can be only achieved by public and political parties who have a will to change the system for the welfare of the public to make India truly democratic.

  102. Veena - March 14, 2007

    This sounds really energisitc… Atlast!

  103. Vinaya - March 14, 2007

    Continuation of March 12, 2007:

Easy accessibility of a Lok Sevak is also very important for the healthy democracy. The author was reported that villagers make many trips to Tahsil or district head quarter to meet an officer to get their work done. This is basically because sometimes officers are busy in meeting or on leave or even absent without notice. This costs a villager a lot. There are many people in village who leave on daily income and if they loose that in making round for an officer to meet, you can imagine what would be their feeling. Only a person who has this experience can only realize. To avoid this, accessibility of an officer should be made certain. It must be ensured that there is always a customer service representative at each and every office controlled by government to hear the grievances of a customer and act on that. Also, this is the age of telecommuting. It should be made sure that an officer, minister, governor or elected public representative is easily accessible by e-mail, fax or telephone. He should make sure that each and very phone call is answered or each and every e-mail or fax is responded well. If a lok-sevak is too busy, his/her public relation representative should manage the telecommuting messages and should make sure for an appointment by telecommunication.

A lok Sevak should never think he/she is not there to take a call of public or serve the public. Most of the lok sevaks think this way and that is not good for UP. If a lok-sevak thinks like that, he/she is not fit for the job or office and he/she should quit. There are a lot of there in queue to pick up his/her job. In several such cases the author has observed that even public relation officers or secretaries in the offices of lok sevaks are trained to deny the accessibility of lok sevaks. They make excuses like lok sevak is in bathroom or eating or in a meeting or resting or sleeping or so on so forth. This is very dangerous for a democratic state and such an act must be avoided. If a lok sevak is available, he/she should be made accessible by his/her supporting officials to general public. Supporting staff should help in providing the accessibility rather than denying it. This could be achieved by political will and by casting intelligently the valuable vote.

The first and foremost duty of a lok-sevak must be to provide quality services to his/her customers. It should be ensured that public get due respect and their complaints or requests are addressed properly and sorted out in specified time period responsibly. If a person’s request takes longer than specified time to resolve, he/she should be communicated time to time in a proper manner so that he/she couldn’t run around the officials and waste money and time. His/her records must be maintained and should be easily available, if he/she needs status on his/her request. Author remembers an instance here. One villager of UP had applied for handicapped benefit to respective office of her district head quarter. She didn’t receive any correspondence on her application in six months. She again visited to the office and asked about the status of her application. The office clerk said there was no such application, write and submit new one. That poor villager didn’t have any option but to file again. This story ran many years and still she is in the hope that she might get her benefit due one day or some day an angel will come to her help and solve her problem. If she would have paid money to corrupt officials, her case could have been resolved, but she didn’t do so. If we evolve a system where each and every complaint is taken care of in a pre-defined manner, we may be able to provide efficient quality service to public. If even an individual complaints against an officer for his/her wrongful deeds, the system should investigate against the officer and take action without fail and should communicate to individual about the action.

    ….to be continued

  104. Vinaya - March 16, 2007

    Continuation of March 14, 2007:

Author also analyzed that there are lot of opportunities where we can make reduce the government costs. Bureaucrats, ministers and elected representatives are given with lot of perks and facilities. Are these really required? Why they aren’t equal to other employees. Don’t they get salary for their work? The UP government should think in this direction. It should just provide the salary and remuneration as per their work and cut the all other facilities. For example, we see that a District Magistrate (DM) is provided with body guards, big bungalow, drivers, cars, secretaries, public relation officers, clerks, peons, cooks, gardeners etc apart from many other facilities. This is really a luxurious life that seems as has filtered from British rule. Is there any need to provide all these facilities? Author thinks no. Government should just provide the allowances for car, house and other as part of salary. Office set-up with a helper is sufficient for him/her to work. DM’s bungalow may be used for developing the Indira Awas-Vikas (Home for poor) or any other plan. It does work in other developed country, then why not in India. People drive their car themselves and hire domestic help on their own expenses. If this could be applied from top to bottom in each and every government institution, there could be a great saving for government and may make realize a lok-sevak to serve without developing egoistic culture. Also, government must ensure that government employee at any level of hierarchy should never use government expenses for his/her personal affair. For example, if chief minister attends a marriage party of his/her friend or relative, he/she should make sure that he/she does it on his/her own expenses. Also, at that time he/she should be given treatment as a general public and not a single government official should go to receive him anywhere.

Educated public is very much important for healthy democracy. The government should aim for 100% literacy. Public should be educated to know their rights and must be communicated that the lok-sevaks are not their bosses but servers. In one of instances reported to the author, a villager requested to his Member of Parliament (MP) of his constituency to visit and see the apathetic conditions of the villagers and help to provide road, water, drainage etc to improve the living standards of the villagers. Do you know what the response of the MP was? His response was that he was not the villager’s servant and he was not there to repair drainage system of the villager’s house. He was there to look for the welfare of the country. If an MP or Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) has this kind of mentality and thinks him/her as VIP on that position, public must not vote him/her to make him/her reach at that position. But, the sad thing is that, it is not happening. UP really need honest and service oriented lok-sevaks rather than rulers or VIPs. If a public representative can understand this, he/she will be happy in being in opposition rather than forming the government by any means (hook or crook). This phenomenon basically results in general public/opposition as boss and not the government/lok-sevaks.

In one of the author’s encounters with a resident of his district Ballia in UP, India, he found that resident was unhappy with the DM of Ballia. This was because DM wasn’t handling his complaint properly. He reported that DM treated him in-humanly and shouted on him because he pointed out the DM’s mistakes and faults. The DM took it heartily since his ego was hurt and didn’t solve the problem. This should not happen in democratic state. A citizen has right in a democratic state to argue and correct the government official for his/her mistakes. A citizen is eligible to check the accountability of DM and not only MLAs, MPs or DM’s bosses. Rather than inhumanly treating the general public, the DM should correct himself/herself and apologize, if he/she is wrong. Author’s district-man explained beautifully that in a democratic structure, he is one of the bosses of DM, Chief Minister (CM) or even Governor and has right to direct and govern them. Author asked him how? He described as DM bends to CM, ministers or politicians because they are DM’s boss. Also, politicians help in appointing the governors. CM, ministers, politicians and public representatives bend to general public for getting the votes. Since he is part of a general public, thus is indirectly the boss of DM. The author was stumped by the analogy given by his district man. But does this really work in UP or will work in UP, is a million rupees question. Do politicians and bureaucrats allow the democracy to work like this in UP? This would be an ideal democracy which we would like to see happen one day in UP. We listen in political rallies where politicians regarding public as their god and say they are there to serve them, but this could be only a gimmick, or trick and tactic to please the public and rule them. In real life, they don’t think so.

    Continuation of March 16, 2007:

Corruption is one of the biggest problems in UP that don’t make development visible. It has become part of life of every UPaite. They think this is necessary for the progress. Takers think this is very much important to live life king size and givers think this is must to get their work done. This way even an illegal work becomes legal. Each and every person of government department knows that but nothing works in controlling this. Author’s research shows the situation is so worse that if a person doesn’t have a job where he/she can’t get any bribe, his/her job would be no longer respectable. People have forgotten the phrase, ā€œhonesty is the best policyā€. Everyone needs money to live beautiful life but this is not the way to get that. This impacts the development and also involves the exploitation of the needy people. Students of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur complained to the President of India about the corruption in getting a passport, which has so rooted in the police department that even it doesn’t spare the students too, who are the future of our state and country. It is untrue that this is unknown to the police officers but they don’t want to stop because their one of the source of incomes may be snatched away. There are several plans government offers to the villagers but are they really implemented with 100% going out to them? Also, there are government programs like Kanya Dhan Yojana, Indira Awas Vikas Yojana, Unemployment Allowances etc., but are they really effective? Author observed, no.

Author made a comprehensive survey on these programs and his observations were that the selected candidates for any program were happy to share half the money as gift to government officials for making them into the awardees list. This is because they say it is free money and getting it without any hard work so what is wrong in sharing it. Head of Village (Gram Pradhan) collects about half the money of the benefits from each candidate and distributes it to the government officials from bottom to top in hierarchy. Officials are happy because they are getting butter (malai), apart from salary and other benefits, too. But does there anyone who truly thinks that how the hard earned money of tax payers getting looted? Government must be responsible in ensuring that each and every penny of tax payers goes to the needy and not shared among the corrupt government officials, otherwise it would be injustice to taxpayers. To ensure this, we may need effective anti-corruption system that every day monitors the day to day activities of government officials and elected representatives. Non-Government Organizations (NGO) can play a great role in this and government may need to assign budgets for this purpose. There are many government institutions that are mainly established to look into corruption cases but they aren’t yet so effective since corruption is there too. The NGO can be involved in controlling the corruption by help of their sting operations based on public complaints, and net the officials red-handed. These operations should take place every day at every level viz. Village, Block, Tehasil and District. But the rule should be not to spare any individual, if he/she is caught red-handed, on any cost. He/she should be asked to resign from the job without any mercy, even if he/she caught for taking a single penny or small amount. With the dismissal from the job and imprisonment, a penalty can also be fixed based on the seriousness of the corruption. A DM can also be fixed responsible and punished for such corruption when it’s found that the government official involved in corruption is state government employee worked under his/her district and amount involved in corruption is more than certain limit. Only transfer or suspension could not solve this problem. This may need some stern action to remove the evil of corruption from our society. Even the DMs in serious cases are just getting the transfer as punishment, but they should be dismissed from duty immediately, if they are either found involved or unable to check the corruption.

Educated Youth in South can join lokparitran as they have good network in South and its leadership belongs to Tamilnadu.
In the same way Youth can join and support Bharat P. Dal in North because its founders Ajit Shukla , Manish Sharma , Omendra Singh are fron North.and in future LP and BPD can make an alliance or coalition to take a power in future.
If they continue with their patriotism , they will also get full cooperation from Nationalist Organisations like RSS , ABVP , MNS and all others.
Go ahead guys . IIT guys have reformed US Techworld , now its the turn of Indian Political World to be reformed by them……….

  115. Akash - March 22, 2007

Bharat Punarnirman Dal have announced that they are completely against reservations to SC , ST , BC , OBC , MBC , Dalits ……
So its sure that they will get 100 % support from YFE ( Youth For Equality )

Youth For Equality is Indiawide Youth Organisation of Youth who would like to oppose Reservations , They have atleast 20 lakh members so BPD can get 20 lakh members / supporters which are educated and influential , it will get a boost to the Youth Revolution by BPD.

  119. Vinaya - March 23, 2007

    Continuation of March 19, 2007:

Special courts only to deal the cases of corruption could also be set-up to help finish such case with fast-pace. There may be occasions in such cases where elected representatives or lok-sevaks at top level constitutional positions may pressurize authorities to spare the corrupted individuals because of their link to them, but in doing so they may also need to be exposed and punished. The NGO can play here role also in trapping them and disclosing the telephonic conversations related with the case. Making a DM accountable for serious corruption cases at district level, may pressurize him/her to check the corruption at the district level. For a serious corruption case in district, an inquiry can be ordered after DM’s suspension and if found lapses on his/her part, he/she must be asked to resign or otherwise dismissed. Transfers or suspensions are not going to solve the corruption problem since they have become part of life of government officials, and not the punishments anymore. Also, government must make it compulsory to audit the bank accounts and properties of government servants and elected members including their family members every year to check the corruption. If their earnings found more than their sources of incomes, they must not be let go Scot free in any circumstances. Also, to develop a corruption free society, we need to ensure our new generations are honest and we may do so by initiating a process of taking oath of honesty from schooling. But after all, all these need people to unite together to vote for the right candidates and elect the dutiful representatives.

Law and order is most important aspect of services to public of UP. In ideal scenario, a state may have an atmosphere where valet of a person is left on the road and no one steals it, or even a girl can freely move in nigh without any fear. We may think this could be a dream right now for the public of UP, but there are lot of scope to improve the law and order conditions in UP to make it a better living place. There are many investors considering investing in UP but because of poor law and order and high in corruption, they are hesitating in doing so. We hear every day about murders, kidnappings, rapes, robberies, corruptions etc and people compare rule in UP with jugle-raj (animals kingdom), but who are made accountable for all this to avoid the repetitions. We need to enforce the accountability of crime at different level in police department and if it’s not being controlled by police officers at that level, they may be recommended for a stringent action. If an official has fear of losing his/her job because of his/her corrupt practices or inability to act promptly, he/she won’t be influenced by unconstitutional pressure and will perform his/her duty honestly and dutifully. Murder of an innocent person is most heinous crime and it’s the duty of UP government to make it possible that not a single murder should take place in the state. This could be achieved by directly accounting the Superintendent of Police (SP) for a murder in the district. SP can be allocated with certain number of days to nab a murderer and put him behind the bar. If SP is not able to do so in given time period, he/she needs to be punished without fail. If there is increase in number of murder cases beyond certain limit during an SP’s tenure in a district, he/she must be shown the door and asked go home. This kind of punishment to police officials assigned for various levels of crime controls may certainly bring back the state of UP to path of normalcy and right developmental track.

Also, the judiciary system in our state is not as optimum and efficient as it should be in a democratic state. There are lawsuits and cases pending from many years. We need to improve the functioning of judiciary system to speed-up the process and deliver the final verdicts on the pending cases in timely manner. As we know that justice delayed is justice denied, the government must ensure this not to happen. This could be done by increasing the benches and judges in a court. Also, government can make laws based on the categories of cases and assign number of days in delivering the judgment. For example, in case of a murder, maximum of a year can be assigned to a judge to deliver the verdict, whatever the circumstances could be. Verdicts delivered earlier than the assigned time period could be used as the good performance of the judges and the investigation agencies, and could be a base for rewarding them. If a verdict is delivered beyond the specified time period, associated agencies and the judges would be accountable for the delay and could be imposed punishment.

    one more thing…
i m ,as any secular nationalist, fully commited to ur ideology..which i will sum up in three Cs :caste, communalism and corruption…i see these three vices as mother of all problem, like reservation policy, slow growth, poor nation building and regionalism..while corruption is all pervasive ,in all our society..communalism divide our nation into differnt groups..and caste divdes these groups into numerous factions, which are more often working against each other..the result is in the name of democracy we are actually making ”the mockery” of this system..so being a indian citizen who cares i endorse your manifsto…it might be possibe that u ppl might face initiall hiccups(god forbade)but keeep going..keeep moving…last laugh will be definitly yours..have faith..will be in touch….bye

    HI
    this is Pranav,
The whole concept of BPD is great, and i want to put my share into it.
The country is messed up with corruption and power imbalalence and its time ripe enough to do something revolutionary, it does not mean we go for a kill, or do something insane. To change the system we have to get inside the system and clean it.
The problem lies not only in the political system but also in us, the common people.
We readily accept to the whims and fantesies of these people.
Once i tried to set something correct, not a big deal, making people stand in queue outside an ATM but the people were all wanting to get inside… onmy telling them to maintain proper etiquete, a well educated person said “arrey bhai yahn aisa hi chalta hai” so if ppl like them behave like this how do we expect the mass to do something rt.
So i extend my full support to these guys who have guts to do something good..
guys u can always trust me for anything u want in this respect..
moreover i would also like to join this outfit..
    plz help

what ever i say will sound like posturing however at the outset would like to record that once the declared aims & policies are understood i am prepared to devote all my spare time BPD having stated my decision i have a few suggestions.1)undertake a time bound prog to conduct conevtions at all levels of the organisaton.the initial finances will have to come thru contributions.2)the culmination of these conventions should be at the level of a national convention.3)after a period of time drop the iitians tag it sounds elitist(thats my view)appropos views expressed by Sandeep Shilawat who i have to accept as being forthright & frank.4)there an opinion expressed by a concerned member/blogger(?) about mumbai unit.an explaination should have been posted regarding the action taken/opinion of the organisation.
more later when i hear from u.

  139. Ajay Tiwari - April 10, 2007

Lok Paritran Founder Tanmay accuses BPD Founder Ajit Shukla as Conspirator responsible for Split in LP , he also told media that founders of BPD have hacked Lok Paritrana Orkut Communities ???

    http://www.ibnlive.com/news/politics/04_2007/iitians-political-dream-goes-bust-37688.html

New Delhi: It was a dream that was realised to bring about a ā€œpositiveā€ change in Indian polity.

But a group of IITians, it seems, weren’t equipped enough to carry forward the burden of expectations.

Lok Paritran, the political party formed by a group of ex-IITians in 2005 witnessed a vertical split just ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

The breakaway faction is called Bharat Punarnirman Dal (BPD) and will take on Lok Paritran head on in the UP poll field.

The LPP has said the split is unfortunate and has alleged political conspiracy. He also said BPD - formed by some ex-IIT Kanpur students - was ā€œmisguiding media and innocent party supporters.ā€

The party also alleged that BPD working committee has illegitimately held the ownership of LPP’s online community on Orkut.

However, party officials maintain the party will go and contest UP polls and is finalising candidates of Lucknow and Allahabad in next few days.

“We will contest the elections in the fifth, sixth and seventh phases in UP despite contemptuous act of spreading rumours against the party by some former party members, who have formed BPD,” national president L P Tanmay Rajpurohit was quoted as saying.

LPP was founded in 2005 and became a registered political party in February 2006 and enjoyed had got a tremendous response in Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

  140. Manish - April 10, 2007

    Goodnews !!

    My Vote to BPD !!

  141. Vinaya Singh - April 13, 2007

Open letter to Ravi Kishore/Ajit Shukla,

I am trying hard to pursue some reforms in UP for the benefits of the general public and have contacted many leaders of various parties for this purpose. Based on the meetings with some of them, I finally realized that most of them are there for their welfare and not for the state’s welfare. They didn’t have any interest in businesses of UP to change it, but their only interest and aim is to earn the money by any means (hook or crook). Based on the conversation of the head of the various parties, I concluded that they want to implement the policies that will suit for their aim and them to grab the power. The sad thing is that only that kind of people has charisma to pull the crowd and has influence on most of the village public in UP. I have been tired of with my efforts with these leaders. Only few are there who really care but they aren’t so influential. We desperately need crowd puller people who believe in ā€œTo Give and Not to Takeā€ and can easily motivate the villagers. Most of the public who can decide the fate of a government live in villages and these leaders grab power because they are able to easily manipulate the villagers. Based on my research, I found that the main issue/concern which stalls the development in UP and elsewhere in India is corruption and we need a motto: ā€œBhrastachar Mitao, UP Bachaoā€ (remove the corruption, save the UP).

I came to know about your party via newspapers and various internet websites. I found it really enthusiastic and think that this is the platform for which I was looking for and where I could be of any help. I am in US for a long time but I have made up my mind to move to UP and add something in improving the conditions of underprivileged UPaites.

I would appreciate, if you could let me know, if I could be any help for the BPD or can become a working committee member. Are there any criteria for this?

Looking forward to hearing you soon.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Vinaya

  161. peeyoush chaturvedi - May 2, 2007

    Hi Vinaya,
I have gone through some of your papers about Reforms in UP. I had moved at the grassroots level while on my job. Founded some of the Basic problems. I hope u will be agree on that part.
    • Basic Problem :- Arises from the Village level. They don’t have the facility of Education/Job. So they move to Cities/Town for getting that. Once they move outside the village no one moves back. This is same as INTELLECTUAL PERSONS move outside INDIA for their growth but very less percentage of people COME back.
What can be done:- We have to create opportunity for them in their own area.
    • Political Persons :- They are the WHOLESOLE INCHARGE as they think of themselves As Representatives of Citizens but that ā€˜s not the Reality. You can see the case of Mulayam Singh . He was simply the Teacher and now Everyone knows. I had visited SAFAI his home also. When we were doing work for his NEPHEW Dharmendra Yadav , MP from MAINPURI. His House was of CRORES.
2nd Example from Pratap Garh. MLA HARI PRATAP from BJP refuses to help a women because from that area where she reside he not get VOTES.
3rd Example in month of February when I was in JHANSI. One of aspiring Candidate from SP said. He had 50 lakhs Rupees for Election if he get TICKET. Else I will try from other parties. Think over it. If a person is investing 50 Lakhs on Elections. Surely , he will try to get Return with Interest.
CASTE based Politics :- I had met with several Media Persons/Journalist/Common person where I go in UP. They all cricises about CASTE based politics. But they CAST their VOTE on that. Even our CLIENTS ask us to give CASTE BREAK UP. For getting more clear picture.
WHAT CAN BE DONE ? Awareness among VOTERS. Secondly, Election Commission should scrutinize the APPLICANT contesting.

I have several examples which I have stored in my memory now I am trying to make it in Writing form. You are from UP and seen all these. Beeter picture you know.

Thanks for Replying. Keep in Touch.

    Regards.

Dear members of LP and BPD,

I appreciate for the honest efforts of these young enthusiastic and energetic guys of BPD and LP. Please keep it up. Please don’t be discouraged with latest result of UP elections, Apr-May, 2007.

I would like to make a point here that BSP wave is not built in couple of years but this movement was running since more than 100 years and it has materialized this year. It was goal of underprivileged (Dalits) to see an underprivileged rule the country and for that reason they united this time and voted in chunk to BSP. Also, the survey shows that average voting was 40% out of which 70% were franchised by underprivileged voters, whose sole aim was not to bother about quality of government but to lodge a government ruled by an underprivileged. An average of 60% voters didn’t vote which consists of the voters with vision for quality governance. Also, few privileged ( Kshatriya, Vaisya, Brahman) and unprivileged (other backward classes) voted to BSP because of ant-incumbency factor.

But this is not the end for BPD and LP. They should take it as a challenge and come up with more enthusiasm and energy. There is long way to go and need to mobilize the 60% of sleeping voters who didn’t vote. I am analyzing the results of UP election 2007 and initial trend shows me that this is an unexpected result because of more than 100 years of movement and not because of social engineering as most of the media elaborate. A social engineering can’t work in couple of months, just before the election. The detailed analysis will be published at site; http://vinay1340.wordpress.com. Please keep visiting at http://vinay1340.wordpress.com.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Vinaya

if u think that u can change india u will.i want to see my india devloopped country. because its everyone responsibilty to make india stong.

  174. manohar - May 27, 2007

    HI,
Some one has to break the ice. So I will do.
    I’m from Lok Paritran.
For a long time I have been asking myself ” Will we not see India having good governance?”. This requires people with good character i.e people who understand right and wrong and does things without selfishness. Because what you sow is what you reap.
I know this is not my dream alone but an entire nation, who wants to see India a developed country and leave a better place to our generations.
But the formation of BPD from LP broke my heart. The mistake could from LP or from BPD. But if people had really put their counties interest first above their personal interest then BPD would not formed. Agian I reapeat I blame both LP and BPD. Every one knows that unity is strength and since we did not had them the british plundered us and because we later followed it we got the freedom .

To put things simple, If you cannot solve a party’s problem how the hell you are going to solve a nations problem???? So I think people in LP and BPD they have to understand this and force their party leaders to resolve their difference for national cause and fight with unity.

Becuase if LP and BPD fails to do this. then we will become a mockery like other parties. I believe if the members from LP and BPD force their party leaders to resolve personal differences for a national cause, then we can fight with unity.

I have already taken a step for this from LP, is there anybody from BPD who cab oin me???

  175. manohar - May 27, 2007

Sorry the last line should say “is there anybody from BPD who can join me???”
LP and BPD has become people parties it is our responsibility to put their personal differences behind the national interest..

  177. Vinaya Singh - May 30, 2007

Can we know what the differences were? I agree with Manohar, if two parties want to fight for the same cause, then why not under one umbrella. What is forcing to divide into two? If we are unable to sort out the differences, there is no guarantee that BPD or LP will stand unite in future. There could come more breakings. For the sake of our country, one has to recover from adamant behavior and sacrifice for the country. If two parties will approach to people with similar ideology, people may confuse and third one may get benefit of divide and rule. If both the parties have different ideologies, then no problem, go ahead with your own…

  178. Mahesh Patil - May 31, 2007

    Hello Vinay,
There were some major issues that lead to the formation of BPD. Yes almost the ideologies of both the partys are the same but LP has deviated from the ideologies.
I think if you surf the net or search on google a bit, you will have all the answers your are looking for.

And no need to worry about divide in votes because its BPD which is going to grow with good and working people under one roof. And there are many people from LP who will be joining BPD soon.

  179. Manohar - May 31, 2007

    HI Mahesh,
I think you are getting things wrong. If you read my earlier post slowly, I called for people from BPD and LP to try to resolve the issues between them. Look, we all want India to be a developed country and let’s not deviate from that. SO I really do not want to fight here but I wanted members from both the parties understand what went wrong and how we can prevent it from happening. It is just a common sense approach. That’s all my intention is. We will have ups an downs but we should understand it and evolve from it….

Instead of fighting and yelling within us, we should save our energy to tactically handle corrupt politicians. As Vinay correctly said Third party should not take advantage of this.

  180. Mahesh Patil - May 31, 2007

    Hi Manohar,
The above post was address to Mr.vinaya, and not you.

Submitted by admin on Mon, 05/12/2008 - 15:28. Announcement Karnataka
B.T. Naganna, who was the Karnataka State President, has been removed from all positions in the Party after he attacked the National General Secretary, Shri. Tanmay Rajpurohit, on Saturday, the 10th of May. Police complaints have been filed against Naganna and a press conference was held today to make the announcement public.
Founder and National President, Shri. Chandrashekhar, announced that certain facts had recently come to light about B.T. Naganna, the Karnataka State President of Lok Paritran, which cast doubt on the suitability of his presidency. It has been brought to our notice that Naganna has been misreporting his educational qualification, and is not the holder of a B.E. degree as he claims, since he left before completion of the degree. Further and more significantly, Naganna has been allegedly implicated in the murder of two men. Naganna was faced with the charges and not being able to provide adequate explanation, was stripped of his post in the Party on Saturday, the 10th of May. In response he violently attacked the National General Secretary, Shri. Tanmay Rajpurohit, that very night and threatened to kill him. He hurled a large stone at Shri. Tanmay Rajpurohit at his head at close range, which Shri. Rajpurohit fortunately managed to dodge. The next morning, even as police reports were being filed about the above incident, Naganna attacked the National Legal Advisor Shri. Srikant Chakravarti’s residence with around 15 goons. He tried to force entry into the house, and threatened Shri. Chakravarti’s parents that he would shatter Shri. Chakravarti’s bones if he was found anywhere near his home.
The National General Secretary Shri. Tanmay Rajpurohit said, ā€œNaganna has filed a false complaint with the police that Lok Paritran has demanded Rs. 6 lakhs from every candidate who participated in the election on our ticket. He threatened Shri. Nalin Jain, the Lok Paritran candidate from Gandhinagar, and said that he would burn his office down if Shri. Nalin Jain did not admit to the allegations. He has also issued other threats to some other candidates of the Party. Considering Naganna’s behavior after he was removed from the Presidency the doubts raised about his background do not seem to be unfounded.
Shri. Chandrashekhar said, ā€œLok Paritran is a Party that has espoused honesty and transparency right from its inception, and the National Committee feels that such a person should not be allowed to continue not only as the State President but also as a primary member of the Party.ā€ Police complaints have been filed, and the National President made the following announcements:

B.T. Naganna is herewith removed from all positions in the Party
The Karnataka State Committee is suspended until further notice.

We will update you as further developments happen.

Other side of story, on May 15th, 2008 at 9:51 pm Said:

Dear Members, our supporters and all of you who have voted for our candidates in the polls on May 10th….

The founders of Lok Paritran, who form the National Committee, held a PressConference on Monday and made allegations on Mr. B.T.Naganna. Almost all the newspapers have carried the details of this press note in their editions on Tuesday and the same has also been put up on the website of the party.

Mr. B.T.Naganna was our State President until he was removed from the post yesterday as per the announcement in the Press Conference. He was also our candidate from KRPuram constituency.

*All the allegations made by the National committee are baseless and totally false.
*We are now in the process of filing our case on the founders for defamation and damages. The details will be made available to all of you as soon as we actually file the case in the court of law.

The charge that Mr. Naganna attacked Tanmay is also false - in fact, Tanmay and his team organised a pre-meditated attack on Naganna at around 9.30pm on the 10th evening, after we all dispersed from the Press Club around 8.30pm.

The reason for the attack on Naganna is extremely shocking and shameful - but we want all our people to know the truth, however bitter it may be….

About 10 days ago, when all our candidates had started their Election campaigns in full earnest, the National General Secretary, Tanmay Rajpurohit, asked two of our candidates to adjust about Rs. 6 lakhs to 7 lakhs of expenses on behalf of candidates from one of the largest National political party. Both our candidates refused to do so.

Tanmay’s reasoning for this was that as none of our candidates were going to show more than Rs. 2 lakhs as the poll expenses, this would be very `helpful’ to our party.

This matter was discussed between a few select members and other candidates and was decided that we would refuse to do this `adjustment’ and that the National committee would be confronted with this issue immediately after the polling.

Tanmay and their team were also pressurizing our (ex) State Treasurer - Mr. Shashidhar Alabur, to submit the State unit’s accounts on the 5th of May itself. He said it would not be possible because of lack of time and when he demanded to see the accounts of the National unit, his request was refused by Tanmay saying that he had no right to scrutinize their accounts.

Thereafter, on the night of May 5th, around 1am, Tanmay and his team along with about 15 others came in 3 vehicles to his house and started banging on the gate of his house. Fearing that some untoward incident may happen, he did not venture out and called the police. Tanmay and his team left the premises before the police arrived. However, a formal complaint was not lodged as this could be extremely embarrassing for our candidates if this news leaked out to the press while the actual polling date was just 5 days away.

All candidates and core members were supposed to meet in the party office at 6pm on 10th evening after the polling concluded and take the National team to task on the above and many other such matters like a) they never joined any candidates’ campaigns even though they had supposedly more than 15 party members who had come down from Delhi/Rajasthan to help the candidates, b) there was absolutely no help in terms of funds for the State unit or the candidates, c) they were creating more problems for the candidates than helping them out by calling them for meetings at odd hours and places etc.

However, because of a bogus voting issue in one booth of one of our candidates, we all had to rush to the Chief Election Commissioner’s office where we joined the press conference in progress and then lodged our formal complaint on the bogus voting problem. Thereafter, all of us present had various discussions with the media and then dispersed around 8.30pm. A few minutes after Naganna left, Tanmay called him on his mobile and told him they wanted to have a personal discussion with him and agreed to meet near TGI Friday on Airport Road. All of them met for some time and Chandrashekhar, the National President, then asked Naganna to instruct all the candidates to ā€˜adjust’ Rs. 5 lakhs to 7 lakhs for another party’s candidates in our poll expenses. Naganna refused to do so and walked away.
Just as he got into his van, 4 men dressed in black, wearing black helmets with dark visors attacked him from both sides. A baseball bat was shoved in from one window which bruised Naganna in the face - but he was quick to grab the bat, get out from the other side and chase one of them with the bat. In the skirmish that followed, Naganna sustained injuries on his hands and legs also - but the thugs managed to escape in an old blue Maruti van. Tanmay & co were spotted watching all this and then they rushed to get into an auto and vanish.

When we all joined forces in the morning on Sunday and went to the Police Station to lodge a complaint, we found Tanmay & co also in the same Police station lodging a complaint on us ! Thereafter, we discovered that they had also lodged another complaint in another Police station on the events of the previous night claiming that Naganna had attacked Tanmay. And on Monday we got the news that they had conducted a press conference where they accused Naganna of various things and that the State committee has been dissolved.

In view of all these events, many statements made by Tanmay and Chandrashekhar, during the last so many meetings and even just before the nominations were filed, assume a different significance now. Remarks like ā€˜it is very easy to get money during elections’, ā€˜just pay 5000 for the nomination deposit and the rest will automatically come to you’, ā€˜adjusting 5 or 10 lakhs (rupees) is not a big thing during elections’ etc. etc. The fact that during the Elections in Gujarat, while the campaigns were in full swing in Gujarat, the whole team flew in from Ahmedabad to Bangalore for 2 days just to meet us and were found having a party at the Leela Palace !

May be this was due to some ā€˜adjustment’ ?

It is now quite obvious to us that these founders of Lok Paritran have always had these intentions of making money during the elections as the primary purpose and all that ideology etc is just eyewash.
We always felt, that, even though the founders had a horrible dress sense, were quite often rude and rough with members - we felt this was due to immaturity and that they would learn in the course of time - but we never doubted their integrity and morals. Alas, we have been proved wrong.
However, every single active member of our Bangalore unit as well as all the candidates (except Nalin Jain who contested from Gandhinagar constituency, who happens to be Tanmay’s close associate) have expressed their solidarity with Naganna and the state committee. Those of you who know us personally or have met us will know who is speaking the truth.

*We assure you all that all of us in the State committee, District committee and all the 10 candidates have been true to the ideology of Lok Paritran, are non-corrupt, are transparent in our actions and accountable for our actions totally - and will continue to be so.

    * Some other facts that you all should be aware of :
Tanmay and Chandrashekhar are own brothers - but Chandrashekhar never writes Rajpurohit after his name (probably to hide this fact)
Dheeraj Kumar who is on the national committee is a cousin of Tanmay.
Santanagopalan and Srikant Chakravarti - who are also on the National committee are cousins of Tanmay.
So, the national committee is a family affair now.
(That is transparency for all of us !)

The three or four of the other founders who were with Tanmay when the party was founded have all left (or were forced to leave).

None of the National team answers their phones on Tuesday !!! (Seriously, we are not joking) - they did not want any of the candidates to file their nominations on Tuesday this time in Bangalore - but some did anyway. (May be they don’t teach about superstitions in IIT ?)

*What next for all of us and Lok Paritran ? *
We have decided to wait till the announcement of the poll results on May 25th before taking a final decision.
We feel this is not the end of it as the National committee has some more dirty tricks in their bag and will try and do some more damage to us in the next 10-15 days - but we will show them that they cannot get away with it anymore.

Many many sincere thanks to all of you who have supported us in our endeavors and efforts in these last 2 years. We will continue to strive for good governance and removal of corruption - and we hope your support is there for us too….

By the (ex) State Committee, (ex) District committee and our 10 candidates.

This is very unfortunate but people across the country are very happy that LP’s (Looser Party) president Chandrashekar, GS Tanmay and Shantagopalan finally got bitten in karnataka. leagal advisor Srikant Chakravarti managed to disappear with the 4 gundas hired for Naganna. This was suppose to happen in Lucnow or Mumbai but they managed to escape.

Now see who is with LP

Tamilnadu - No one. LP’s founder misbehave with them and they all are in the process of merging with BPD (Bharat punarnirman dal).

Andharapradesh - No One. They are already with BPD.

Karnataka - Only one and that is Nalin Jain. I don’t think people of karnataka will give any value to a Rajsthani.

Delhi - Sharma was taking care of Delhi unit but LP’s founders abused him and he left the party with Delhi unit.

Gujrat - No one. Molik Bhatt (LP Candidate from Maninagar) got bitten by LP’s founders and he is no more with LP.

UP - None. Two Candidates fought Assembly election under lok paritran banner but now athey are not with LP but BPD. They are finished in UP.

Maharastra - All joined BPD. No base at all for LP.

Finally, all are happy with the news that LP founders got bitten badly in Karnataka and in the process of forming another group or joining with BPD.

List of members in Lok Paritran
    —————————————
    1. Chandrashekar Rajpurohit – President
    2. Tanmay Rajpurohit – General Secretary.
    3. Shantagopalan – No post. Can say Spoon of above two.
    4. Shrikant Chakravarthy – Leagal advisor.
    5. Nalin Jain – Another Spoon who contested Karnataka assembly election.

All the best to LP. Please think twice before joining Looser Party (LP).

    Dear Sir,
I thought that LP was a better party than the others… with all of those from IITs and IIMs founding a party, I definitely thought that it would do some thing good to the country and its people. But looking at this fight i dont think that you are any different from the other parties. Good that less people know about your party and hence less number are fooled by your dedication towards politics and that towards the country.
Thanking you and hoping that you dont even win a single seat in the current elections (because u dont deserve to win any).
And by the way i know that this comment will not be moderated as it is against LP….

In fact this chain of comments was started by Prassana (who I presume is still from Lok Paritran) and if I get another comment - giving their side of the story, I will be happy to publish it as well.

    Dear all,
    Just one clarification :
Professionals in Bangalore who were ’supporting’ or ā€˜campaigning’ for LP was actually doing it because of some of the candidates who have good credibility in Bangalore. LP just happened to be the platform on which they were contesting. The party was immaterial.
We would have even campaigned for them if they had contested on the Congress symbol, because we felt that we needed some different from other regular politicians.
In fact I heard about LP only from one of the candidates who invited me to join them.
I would be only glad to work these people (the 10 candidates) because of their credibility and determination to create a difference to politics.

Politics is to add the people and not to remove them. I have seen that n number of people joined LP but disappeared due to the behavior of LP’s founders. Now take example of Naganna (Ex Karnataka state president), He has done more work for LP than the founders. He is even more known in the public. Now LP’s founders are blaming that he is not a Graduate. Even if he is not then is LP is giving him job?? Is it written in LP constitution that only Graduate can hold post of President? Due to Nagana only LP exists in Karnatka and not due to LP’s founders. Why they didn’t check his certificate at the time of giving him president post? No one was taker of LP in Karnataka and today also no one is there to take care of LP in Karnataka. Through mail I came to know that all are supporting Naganna and no one is contacting LP’s founders. From LP’s founders only I heard about the murder case pending against Naganna. I just wanted to tell LP’s founder that if Indian law doesn’t have any issue with Naganna then why you are bothering. You should provide proof also other wise some day you may also get same changes by others. Respect others to get respect.

through mail only I came to know that all the candidate have put their hard earned money and didn’t get even a single coins from LP’s founder as they promised. Most of the candidates are in depth of 50K to 75K. This is due to false promises by LP’s founders. I just wanted to tell you that all the members in Karnataka state unit including the entire candidate are very much true because they are not politician and they are as pure as any thing.

LP Karnataka members are shocked but their moral is very high. They will be keeping continuing their work but not under LP banners.

Its very unfortunate to see the things turning up this way. I was devasted after hearing all about LP. It was the only party that I had a hope in. But it seems its not different than other parties. When I first met Tanmay in bangalore, in no way he sounded like a leader. He sounded more arogant and not listening to audiences. Even did not gave respect to elderly persons. How one can lead anybody without having this basic principle in life. Still this party made significant progress in Bangalore within short span of time, all the credit goes obviously to the disolved state committee. I owe my full support to the state unit. I remember a famous dialogue from film SARKAR ā€ taakat logonko jodane se milati hai, todane se nahiā€..

However going on the work and dedication level, Bangalore LP has been doing a commendable job in comparison with the LP in other states or even the National party. From the interaction i have had with the members of the State party including Mr. Naganna when working with them for LP i know that they are men of integrity. I will any day back the state party. What a shame on Tanmay and chandrashekar, on the day i first met Tanmay, it was a press conference, he was so rude and carefree to the reporters, he did not even answer as a common man does, when this part was discussed when we met in the office later, Tanmay told some bull shit stories and said the reporters to do not be taken seriously. That day i did not understand his stand and now i do. I personally know how Mr Naganna, shashi, Ajit and team had worked hard for the cause of good governance and up against corruption. But shamefully the national team is comprised with such an anti-national elements. Naganna I am with you with full force.

    Hi,
I have doubt whether LP’s founders are really from IIT. They don’t know LP’s constitution also. They think that any state unit/Office can be started any time and dissolve any time. There is certain procedure for this. As per the constitution, national committee have to sent notice to the state unit and seek clarification of the issue and I have come to know that they have not done so far but they have announced in the media. They also think that LP is their parental property. Dear founders, the day party is registered with election commission its public property and not yours own.

Today I came to know from website that a new office has been opened to do the business.

    ************
Lok Paritran is happy to announce a new and improved office in Karnataka. The Karnataka State office will be located in Bangalore and is open for business. The contact information is given below.
    157, 12th Main, Nagendra Block, Bangalore - 560 050
Opposite Aiyappa Temple on 50 Ft Road
    Contact #: 94489 85711
    ***********************
I am confused whether they have opened the office to do the business or server the society. No No, its for the business what they did this time. In another 3 months there are possibility of Corporation election and later Parliamentary election and they can do better business.
As per the Raj comments, LP (desolved) should merge with another party or create a new organization. I feel this is very easy because what ever name LP have got due to Karnata State unit and not due to LP’s founders. As all are together they can set the things right very quickly but here question is what will happen if LP founders will continue in LP. They will be keep doing business on the name of IIT, keep shitting here and there so its better to finish them (Remove them from LP)politically so that in future they will not dare to open even NGO also.

I believe Karntaka unit has a support of all the state units and together they will create history.

    Dear all,
Greetings! I am Cdr. (Retd) BB Khilari from Bangalore, who has contested the Assembly elections from Lok Paritran and awaiting results on 25 May 08. At the outset, I would like to inform you in right earnestness that you all are being totally ill-informed and mis-guided about Karnataka LP party by Tanmay Raj Purohit and his brother Chandrashekhar through LP website.

You all may be surprised to know that if at all LP party noticeably exists in the country, it is the Karnataka unit, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Mr. BT Naganna, the erstwhile State President and Mr. Shashidhar Alabur, the Treasurer, who have been sweating it out for over two and a quarter years to spread the message of LP, without any recognisable support from the so-called National Committee of LP headed by the two brothers mentioned above.

I only joined about six months ago, highly impressed by the ideology and vision portrayed by the party, and contributed my bit in its growth. However, you shall all be surprised to know that none of the National Committee members have helped any of the 11 candidates in the campaigning process even on a single day. Instead they were busy contacting the candidates one by one to adjust the poll expenses of Congress candidates into their accounts as the maximum expenditure of LP candidates was around 2 to 2.5 lakhs against the CEC allowed limit of 10 lakhs. The basic aim seems to have been to convert black money of the Congress candidates into white for their own self-aggrandisement.

When I got the wind of this and when Tanmay Purohit and Chandrashekhar wanted to visit me alone at my residence, I refused and asked them to arrange a formal meeting at the party Hqs. Since none of the candidates, except perhaps, one, Nalin Jain, presumably their relative, and an unfit LP candidate projected by the National team, agreed to their nefarious demands, on 10th May, they invited Mr. Naganna, for a personal discussion at about 8.45 pm. and after the discussions, where in Mr. Naganna refused to influence any of the candidates accounts or make adjustments in the State accounts, and when Mr. Naganna was about to leave by his car he was attacked by three masked men from a car immediately behind his car with sticks and base ball bats. Naganna somehow managed to chase them away and went home and informed Mr. Shashidhar and others of the party (I have a message received at about 10.21 pm stating Naganna attacked by Tanmay and gang, be careful, saved in my mobile). The conspirators then went and lodged a complaint with police that Naganna had attacked them. However, Mr. Naganna, keepiung in mind, the reputation of the party had discussion with many a party members and candidates next morning and filed a complaint of assault in the evening.

In the mean time on that day Chandrashekhar and Tanmay addressed a press conference ( all pre-planned, as you have to book in advance) to state that Mr. Naganna has been dismissed and the State unit of Lp has been dissolved, by slapping totally false and baseless charges against Naganna, an act which is also utterly illegal as no prior notice had been issued nor the National council meeting had been convened to take such a decision. Surprisingly, yesterday, when the state committee was holding its meeting from 1600 hours and extended upto 2000 hours Mr. Nalin Jain, in collusion with Tanmay and Chandrashekhar, lodged a complaint in a remote police station at about 1830 hours that Mr. Naganna, Mr. Shashidhar and Mr. Anuj Mishra, a candidate, along with 10 heavily armed goondas attacked him at his office and demanded Rs. six lakhs and to withdraw the complaint lodged by Tanmay against Naganna. I, along with others went to the Police station today and have told the Inspector that this complaint was absolutely false as all the 3 members accused were in a meeting with us the previous day at the alleged time of attack.

The police have also confirmed that no one visited Nalin Jain’s office as alleged and are taking suitable action. I would like to inform you people that 10 candidates, including Naganna and myself, who contested the elections really sweated it out against corruption, in-efficiency and in-competency in governance and apathy of the administrative machinery towards citizens’ problems with un-imaginable sincerity and dedication and that too in our pre-decided limited budgets, which was appreciated alround. The acts of the National committee of LP came as a surprising blow to all of us and has done considerable damage in the eyes of the public. We have learnt with fgeat pains that these conspirators and the so called founders of LP have done similar acts in Tamil Nadu, UP, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Gujrat and have not promoted the cause for LP’s growth , but were mis-guiding every one , including those who are funding from abroad.

Please convey this trurth to all those who you know and expose these mis-guided youths, who are younger to my children, and help me in pursuing my fight against corruption which is the original aim of this party.

My E-mail ID is bbkhilari@yahoo.com and you can contact me on 09342689574. Let us all together build a good society and a good governance.

Dear JaiHind1, Rajeev, Sumanth, JaiHind, MGM, Sneha, Dnyanesh, Sridhar, Raj and Cdr Khilari: Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and comments.

This is a very sad episode and does nothing at all to build trust in efforts to cleanse and reform the system.

I hope other new outfits (like BPD, Loksatta) etc avoid this kind of infighting and ugly politics…

    We need change - now.

    Dear Shantanu,
I am with you. What I feel that all the fights are going on which is good because it helps to filter the people and things. Even if this is not good for LP but for other like BPD, Lok Satta etc, will help to improve the things. I heard that Lok Paritran got more than 30000 vote in Tamilnadu assembly election 2 years ago. Later I came to know that Ajit Shukla (now BPD founder) was behind the success because there also Tanmay created huge problem but some how Ajit managed it. I also came to know that the day when Ajit Shukla came out from Lok Paritran, it started dieing slowly and as a result LP was able to file only two candidates and each got around 150 votes. In Gujrat only one candidate even if entire LP national team was in Gujrat for more than two months. There also some how they managed to get around 125 Votes. In Karnata LP managed to get 11 candidate and this credit goes to Karnata State Prisident Sri Nagana and not to the LP founders.

LP founders are very rude and they never answer any question properly. If they don’t know they will answer some thing else and when you ask they will tell you, you don’t have that much maturity to understand and it will take time to understand it. So many LP members have complained about it.

I feel if LP founders don’t change their attitude they will finish soon and even getting job for 4th grade will be difficult for them. Any way 99% they are finished.

    Dear Shantanu,

Thank you for your kind comments. Through this forum I would like to state that if Tanamy Rajpurhit and Chandrashekhar really belong to the highly respected Alumni of the IIT’ians and honour them, they should come forward and accept their folly and gracefully resign from the primary membership of the party along with all the members of the National executive committee of LP.If they do so, as an elderly person of the party, I shall pardon them for all their mis-endeavors so far, and assure them that no member of the party or any Bangalorean, there are lakhs of them who appreciated our efforts, shall cause any harm to them when they are repenting thus in front of the press. I shall also make best efforts to see that legal actions initiated against them so far are also dealt with leniently. This will ensure restoration of public faith in LP for the purpose for which it was launched and all the breakaway groups, abandoned groups/individuals of earsttwhile LP as well as other smaller groups/parties with similar ideology and vision can all join together to form a strong united national force to transform politics and Governance in our country. I know that it is a ā€œTALLā€ demand; but the time to think thus is ā€œRight Nowā€ and if everyone associated with this page thinks deeply and responds, we would have contributed immensely to the dreams of all of us, including Mr. Sanjeev Sabhlok, who may not have to wait too long to genuinely form his team of 1500 capable volunteers of freedom movement..

If they do not come forward for repentance and act as I have suggested, I can only say that that they shall be ruining their lives at such an young age, as truth alone shall triumph over all mis-deeds. We shall also miss a Golden opportunity to unite all like-minded groups to form a united national force to transform India; and, further, the IIT Alumni may permanently have a black mark on its credibility vis-a-vis values and ethics in life just because of these individuals. I request all bloggers, friends and others who were quite concerned about the future of LP and such other outfits to think and see positively in this manner and by the grace of God and our collective thought and action we shall succeed.

    Warm Regards,

Grassroots presence holds key- Ganesh Naik
NCP which has 48 corporators out of total 95 in NMMC enjoys stronghold at the civic level since party has representative in almost every part of the city. In 2005 civic polls, NCP contested without alliance and received 1,44,000 votes from across the city which is almost three times more than their opponents.
“Our strength is more than our opponents. During 2005 civic elections, we received 78,000 votes in Belapur while in Airoli we got 66,000 votes, while Shiv Sena and Congress received 15,000-18,000 votes in both the regions. This indicates that our presence is much more than them. Besides, after coming to power, we have processed and carried out developmental works worth Rs 10,000 crore. All these factors will definitely work in our favour,” senior NCP leader from the city.
However, this assembly election is witnessing many changes in political circle, especially in Belapur constituency where sitting MLA Ganesh Naik is contesting as NCP-Congress alliance candidate and has been pitted against renowned builder and BJP-Shiv Sena candidate Suresh Haware. Initially, this election seemed an easy victory for Naik.
